During this pandemic, we need all the support we can get. To share the wisdom of its authors, Mango Publishing Group began a weekly virtual event titled “Wisdom from the Heart During These Challenging Times.” It’s a panel discussion that includes authors who share tips and practices for self-care, love, compassion, and connection.

On December 2nd, I joined the panel with Judy Ford, best-selling author of numerous books including Wonderful Ways to Love a Child, to discuss love and forgiveness.

Love is a huge and complicated topic.

Forgiveness may be even more complicated.

But this didn’t stop us from saying a few words about these important topics, based on our own personal experiences and our writing.

Forgiveness may happen at a number of levels. At a societal level, the divisiveness in our country today calls for forgiveness on all sides. And it’s tough.

Even more challenging may often be forgiving a loved one we believe has hurt us deeply – that is the forgiveness story in my book Nothing Bad Between Us.

My book is not a story about railing against the ways that my judgmental Mennonite church or my father hurt me.
It’s also not a story about perfect love and forgiveness.

Nothing Bad Between Us is a book about imperfect people on a bumpy path toward forgiveness and reconciliation. My hope is that the book and my message on the Heart Wisdom Panel inspire and encourage all of us to choose forgiveness each day, over and over again, as we move toward healing and more perfect love.
