As we approach the release of CALLED in just over two weeks, Ed and I have had to dig deep into the reservoirs of our own determination and resolve in order to meet deadlines and figure out unexpected challenges.
Earlier this week, I shared a story about my father, Dr. John Schmidt, and his own steadfast determination — in my latest YouTube video about Excuses or Results. I also shared the words of George Bernard Shaw on being “unreasonable” about one’s goals:
“The reasonable man adapts himself to the world: The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”
Are you willing to be unreasonable while pursuing your goals?
If you’re interested in learning more about the “unreasonable” goals of my parents, we encourage you to join our upcoming event on Saturday, October 30th at 7pm ET. Ed and I will be on-hand (virtually) to discuss the contributions of Dr. John and Clara Schmidt. We hope to see you there!
Remember, we are together on this journey!
Marlena, may I write to you about what appears to be the inclination of the Mennonite press to ignore your first book? I’m a former short term Kansan employed by the Mennonite Weekly Review during the days when your father was a BIG deal … knew Rusty Bonham casually. I’m at Leichty@sbcglobal.net. Your book so much better written and so much more thought-provoking then some other offerings touted these days
