My Dad Is the Pale Guy in the Middle
This week’s blogs have been about “circles of inclusion.”
I grew up on a leprosy compound in Paraguay, South America. My husband Ed and I are currently writing an historical novel about the lives and work of my Mennonite missionary parents, who among other things, revolutionized how leprosy is treated on the planet today.
My parents included the “untouchables and unclean” within their circles of inclusion. In the photo, my dad is helping two leprosy patients build their home.
What a powerful example of the inclusion that our world needs more of today!
Your childhood experiences in Paraguay on a leprosy station provide a wonderful perspective on how relatively small many of our circles of inclusionary are and the opportunity we have for beginning our expansion.
